Ten Foods I Don’t Like (But Eat Anyway)

Just talking, Nutrition

There are some foods I don’t particularly like. When I say that, I don’t mean I hate them. I just would not cross town for them. I eat them anyway, because most of them are good for me. Or someone made them for me, and I feel uncomfortable saying no. Like I said, I don’t hate them. So, I don’t want to make a fuss…

By the way, beets are not on the list!

  1. Eggplant
  2. Zucchini
  3. Summer squash
  4. Sardines
  5. Strawberries
  6. Cabbage
  7. Onions – like them in things, but not by themselves. No onion rings, bloomin’ onions, hamburger onions, salad onions, etc.
  8. Chicken
  9. Celery
  10. Chocolate cake – so shoot me, it’s just not my favorite!

Who could resist this beautiful eggplant?

Who could resist this beautiful eggplant?

So, what’s on your list?

I love your entire list – truly I do!

These are at least 10 of my favourit foods!!!

  3. Rachelle  •  Apr 9, 2009 @12:52 am

Wow, no strawberries or zuchinni. I need those two foods. I would have to say I don’t enjoy chipotle flavor and I am not a fan of sloppy joes. I also don’t like radishes.

Its easier for me to come up with a list of foods I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot wooden spoon…like any and all seafood, most red meat, mushrooms and chocolate soy milk *shudders*

One thing I guess I am on the fence about is peanut butter. I used to like it, but now I rarely touch the stuff. I would eat green peppers if I really had to, but would really rather not and if possible will pick them off said food.

I really love the last three things on your list, but if it makes you feel better, my grandmother isn’t a huge poultry fan either!

I don’t like sardines, and I find celery stalks to be fairly pointless (though celery root is awesome), but the rest of your list? Good stuff.

Not a big fan of summer squash either or zucchini, not that I hate them I just don’t go out of my way to cook them. Ham is on my list for sure. Not a big fan of mushrooms. But I do like the white raw ones in salads. Cooked they taste like a sponge. Lentils. Scallops.

MsGourmet, Stuart & Sophie, Thanks for visiting.
Not surprised that people like the foods I don’t like. But I can’t help it. Like I said, I *eat* them.

Reeni, thanks for your list. Of course, those are all foods I do like. See, this is what personal taste is all about.

Kris, the foods I hate list is much too long to post on a blog. But includes green peppers for sure.

Rachelle, I love chipotle! Good thing we don’t all have to eat the same foods!

wow! I don’t like chocolate cake either! I didn’t know such another human being existed. high five!
for me: avocadoes, bananas, pies, cantaloupes, melons, honeydew, radishes

Hmmm interesting question! I agree with sardines, they’re not really my sort of fish although I love all sorts of other fish. Hmmm I don’t tend to eat anything that I don’t like but I tend to like a lot of stuff so perhaps that saves me from a future of unhealthiness.

Let’s see. I don’t particularly like eggplant either. Maybe I just don’t know how to cook it, but it always seems bitter to me. And lima beans, I’m on the fence for those. Ham too. Food hates? I don’t have many…but chocolate iced donuts, and chocolate eclairs, I cannot stomach. Yuck.

I’m not a fan of raw celery but I do find it compliments certain recipes when cooked. Otherwise, not too crazy about green beans.

Very interesting list! I don’t like sardines and I will NOT eat them anyway! LOL

Hmm, this is a tough question for me – because really, if I don’t like it, I won’t eat it. I guess I’d have to say that I don’t really like raw tomatoes but I do eat them often. I love cooked tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomatoes in things … but I really don’t like plain/raw.

You don’t like strawberries and chocolate cake!? How could you not? I guess strawberries dipped in chocolate wouldn’t help.

For me? I don’t like anything with suction cups. That means octopus and squid/calamari tentacles. Anything slimy like oysters and mussels. See a pattern forming? And I’m not very fond of food with nutmeg so pumpkin pie is definitely a miss!

Actually, chocolate covered strawberries are good. I love chocolate. It’s just the cake. Too many years of eating Duncan Hines Devil’s Food cake, I think. I like yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Or hazelnut cake. Or pistachio cake. There are so many other kinds of cake, why settle for chocolate?

  15. Julie  •  Apr 21, 2009 @3:06 am

I know what you mean about the chocolate cake. I love all things chocolate, but unless it’s really really amazing made-from-scratch chocolate cake, I’d rather have another cake, with, say, chocolate frosting. I’ve been disappointed too many times and my inability to put down something chocolate once I’ve begun, even if it’s not great, makes me wary of chocolate cake.

Gee Care, That’s quite a list. I love eggplant and chocolate cake(homemade of course) There aren’t too many things i don’t like,….of course beets! and some or most other root vegs. Next visit you have to make the mango ginger ice cream. I”ve got the mangoes. My mouth is watering already!
    Love, Mom
